The chicken chop is truly very very crispy. However, the meat layer seems a bit too thin to my liking so the chicken chop is mainly the skin and crispy bits. The price point is quite steep in my opinion. For a whole meal with sides and drinks, it’s quite high. The mini without sides and drinks is already about RM16-ish. Owner is extremely polite which makes this is very pleasant visit. It’s rare to praise but this is truly a gem as I’ve not visited a toilet in a restaurant as clean as Charlie’s. I’ve also tried the pastry which is the signature UFO tart but it’s not quite for me.

It's a simple restaurant with limited menu. Short operating hours too. The chicken chop and fried boneless chicken were good...like a Japanese karaage. Super crispy skin and you do not see oil when you separate the skin and meat. Portion was as per the price. Black pepper and mushroom sauces were average. Mild for my taste. Coleslaw was on the sweetish side. Mashed potatoes was thick. Desserts were average. Scones and brownie were not moist for me, though sweetness was just right. Ice lemon tea was average. Service was good.

Went for lunch. Need to wait to be seated. Recommended to come early or expect a wait . Ordered the signature chicken chop with mash potatoes and the curry laksa with karaage chicken. Both were good but only the laksa truly satisfying. The laksa broth was thick and they were generous with the vegetables and condiments. I preferred yellow noodles but there were no options given. Nonetheless, the laksa was very enjoyable . The chicken chop was big and served with mash potatoes and coleslaw. The gravy over the mash was good, not overpowering but needs more depth and taste. Lacks spices . The coleslaw portion was just too small and hardly makes a difference . The chop was extra crispy. Well done and large. Using a deboned chicken leg , it's a reasonable size. And coated with batter to appear to be bigger, but mostly deep fried flour. The Sarawak black pepper sauce was just too light . Needs more kick. The drinks were great. The ice lemon tea and Tenom coffee is nice. Full flavoured and delicious, plus it's refillable. But the refill is not as wonderful as the original. The open UFO tart as dessert is a cross between a creme brulee, a macaron, a cream puff and a cookie. It's a deconstructed creme puff. The creme lacks taste but not sweet, rather bland. The cookie base doesn't lend any flavour either and is not cold or crispy. No texture. Place was a little warm too.

Will be a quite detailed review. First of all the chicken chop is really big and taste pretty good. The set comes with free flow iced tea and the gravy can also be refilled. What makes me like this cafe very much is how warm and welcoming the owners are. I feel very much invited and even if it's not because of the food(though it's good), such mannerisms will make me want to revisit there as many times as possible. Their cafe is also quite cozy and comfortable, not too fancy, not too shabby, just nice for a good meal. However, the chop is quite on the pricey side, rm26.9 for a chop, coleslaw and gravy with free flow drinks. I know, they used good ingredients and oil, and the quality is very good but the price is what holding me back from going there too frequently. I know they gave their best service, and i guess rm26.9 is fitting for the award winning name itself. However if they can comes up with chops menu for under rm20, that would be a real blessing. However, this isn't a complaint, just stating my sadness as im not rich enough to feel that price is cheap for me. I still go there occasionally as my comfort food tho. Very recommended

Charlie's Sarawak Lasak RM21 is really authentic! The soup is flavourful, thick and comes with a big prawn. Their Champion Chicken Chop RM30 also very nice. Crunchy, tender and very big portion, much more better than any café... Definitely will come again

Went with colleagues today and we were lucky to get both parking and a table. The café owner was friendly and seated us immediately. He even explained how to order and recommended their best sellers. We tried their signature chicken chop with shiitake black pepper sauce. The chicken chop was truly crispy as claimed, with a crunchy skin in every bite. The black pepper sauce was nicely peppery, although the shiitake mushroom flavour was not very noticeable. The fries were good as long as they were served hot, and the coleslaw was definitely homemade and fresh. I would say their chicken chop brings back a nostalgic feeling—like eating chicken chop at an 80s–90s kopitiam with your grandpa. Overall, it was a good experience with good food.
